Legal Question in Employment Law in Ohio
I have recently resigned my position and former employer sent me my final check. On the check stub 40 hours vacation time was listed. Should I receive a check for my vacation time? Is the check stub a legal document?

A check stub is evidence but not a legal document. Further, there is nothing in the law that states they must pay you accrued vacation. If they withhold it from you and they give it to others under the very same circumstances you may have some recourse for discrimination. But that takes a whole lot more of information to determine.
