Legal Question in Employment Law in Ohio
unjust termination?
I was trying to abide by company policy regarding a customer. My manager felt the policy for this customer wasn't valid and got her supervisor to approve but did not get the corporate office approval. A heated discussion ensued and I was shaking and felt the need to leave, she was aware that I was leaving because she repeated it. (I left approx 2 hours prior to the end of the day.) I have left before for personal business and it was ok. I returned the next day and was terminated because she said I left without permission. Nothing was said to me that I could not leave. I have never had any disciplinary action, have received great annual reviews and do not miss work. I can use the company arbitration process but feel if I do get my job back, that she will make my job miserable. I have filed for unemployment but do not expect to get it. Was this an unjust firing and do I have to accept my postion back if offered thru arbitration. This is non-union office.

Re: unjust termination?
It could be considered abandonment. It will depend on past practice.
