Legal Question in Employment Law in Ohio

I am waiting to hear from some schools to which I applied for a classified position. I may be called back to work after being let go to a reduction in force. If I accept a position, and then get a call for an interview from another school can I decline the employment from the first offer? What if the decline is before actually starting to work? I am in a situation that will occur every June and be let go being low man for senority. I then lose my insurance and now have preexisting conditions. I need to go to a better paying district that also has better benefits. I am confident I may get called for interviews but it may be after I am already called back. What can I do?

If you are an at-will employee (no union or contract) there is very little legal process you can do that will protect you from getting terminated/not hired by EITHER employer. You can decline anything you want but will gain the benefits or suffer the consequences. Now, you say you work for a school. Do you have a renewable contract? If yes, this changes things but I would need to know the details.
