Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Ohio
If I am in a 7-year commercial property lease and my business closes, how much of the remainder of the rent am I responsible for? Am I only responsible for lost rent until it is re-rented?

In Ohio, the landlord can sue for the rent through the end of the term, but you will have the defense against that claim of failure to mitigate damages if you can show that the landlord is not taking reasonable steps to re-rent the property. Further, any money that does come in on rent from another tenant must be deducted from the amount that you would owe.
