Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Ohio

My daughter signed a 6-month lease in Columbus, OH, just two days ago (2/8/10). She attempted to move in last night, but the furnace was non-working and tagged because of a leak. Additionally, she was accosted by three different men during the few short trips between her car and apartment. She wants out of the lease ASAP. The landlord sounds as if he will let her out, but is refusing to return her rent and security deposit.

Sounds like you have an argument for getting out of the lease. Problem is - you will have to sue the landlord to get the money back. I would try to get a picture of the tagged furnace for use in court later, if necessary.
