Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Ohio
Door
I have been renting from a company for 8 months now. My contract is up at the end of October. Since I have been there I have had an issue with the door. It is damaged. When I first moved in I noticed the trimming with the chain on ot. It was put in wrong. They won't fix it saying that it won't help in an emergancy anyway. Then I noticed that the door was badly damaged (with like a crow bar or something) and had been glued back together. They won't fix or replace that and over the past 8 months it has gotten worse. They promised me a new door 2 months ago. They recieved it but refuse to put it on. I put this months rent in escrow. I asked yesterday to be released of contract. They won't tell me the person with the power to do anythings name or number they just keep saying this is not my area someone else deals with it and then lead me on a wild goose chase. What I was wondering is what are my legal rights in this matter? I tried looking up info under the Ohio Revised Code but I do not understand it. Is there anyway that you can help? I asked yesterday who would be at mediation when we meet and they said that there attorneys would talk to them over the phone and that they wouldn't have to go in. Is that true? Thanks!

Re: Door
You definitely need an attorney to help you, especially if they have attorneys there. The good thing is that they are willing to mediate this as opposed to going to court. It sounds as if they are being very unreasonable about everything.
I would love to help if you would like my assistance. Please feel free to contact me for a free consultation.
