can my landlord enter my apartment without giving me a notice? if they do what legal action can i take?

That depends on the language of the lease. Some leases provide for entry for maintainance, emergencies, etc. I would suggest you (1) read your lease very carefully, and (2) if the language is confusing or unclear, take the lease to a local attorney who can read it over and advise you.
