Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Ohio
Can I get out of a lease that automatically renewed 120 days before my first lease ended. It is in the lease contract that if I did not let them know by March 2nd if I was leaving I would automatically be renewed for another year. I let them know today March 8th

In Ohio, there is an appellate level case called Meadowbrook v. Roberts which states that a clause in a lease requiring 60 days notice from the tenant to the landlord is unenforceable. The case cite is 2001 Ohio App. LEXIS 5870.
So a clause that is double that from Meadowbrook would have a hard time being enforced by a court that saw that case.
You will still want to notify the landlord in writing as soon as possible that you are moving out though. When you send your notice, you should send it certified mail, return receipt requested and keep a photocopy of the signed letter you sent.
