Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Ohio

i live in an apartment it only has 3 apartments, mine is on the bottom, one above me and the other above the office of my landlords. he is a semi retired lawyer, very nice person. he was told by the one tentant that he had cockroaches. and the other apartment got them from the other one, they are conected on back by a back porch and the closet door to the one that had them goes to the other apartment. i never had any problems with them until my landlord asked me if i would clean the apartment that originally started with the cockroaches, i told him yes, at that time i did nto know anything about roaches being in there. ever since i cleaned, i have had them now in mine. i never see him much any more he is semi retired so i left a letter in mailslot and told him that the apartments needed to be fumigated tht all three have roaches and he probably has them in his office also. i also said something to his sons recepcionist who is across the alley who is also a lawyer, this was two months ago and nothing has been done so far. i personally dont want to live with roaches and dont want my grandbabies to either as they live with me also i have been leaving my lights on cause they don't come out when they are on, i am tempted to give him the electric bill. him being a lawyer and a landlord you would think he would be taking care of this better then what he is

In Ohio, if you are looking to get your landlord to fix things, you have certain rights and remedies. You can find out about these at: http://www.ohiolandlordtenant.com/faq1.html

You should take a look through your lease because if a landlord owns fewer than four rental units in Ohio and discloses this fact to you in the lease agreement, then rent escrow with the courts is not permitted.
