Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Ohio
I lived with a roommate and had to come home due to health issues. My roommate told me my personal belongings would be fine. I communicated with my roommate every week for months and he said it was fine. When I tried to get my things back he told me he got rid of them no more of an explanation then that. I need help with legal advice and what I need to do. He never gave me notice that he was getting rid of my things. Thank you

In Ohio, you would have a claim for relief against the roommate for what is called conversion. Under this claim for relief, you could recover the actual value of the items. The judge would also have the discretion to award attorneys fees and punitive damages if you won the case.
The problem however is really going to be one of collection though. If the rommate has no money, getting a judgment against him isn't going to be very helpful.
