Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Ohio
I have been renting a 1 bedroom apartment since March, under a one year lease. In June I found out that I was pregnant and due in February. I informed my landlord as soon as I knew that my husband and I were looking for a house to buy and that we would give him 30 days notice. We have found a house and plan on closing the end of September. The landlord has never said he would try to charge us for the remainder months, but just in case, can he? I heard that you had to have a seperate room for the baby. Is any of the information I was given true? How should I go about giving our 30 day notice?

I would just give him a letter that you are breaking the lease. However, since it is a one year lease you could still be on the hook for the additional rent for the term. I have never heard that a baby is supposed to have a separate room. But, even if you break the lease he needs to attempt to rent the apartment to someone else.
