In Ohio, you are never bound to renew your lease agreement if you don't want to. You can give notice and move out. If I am reading your question correctly, it appears that you signed a renewal of your lease agreement, but they moved you into a new apartment, and now you are wondering whether or not that renewed lease is still enforceable since it was for a different apartment.
Your landlord will argue that you voluntarily moved to the new apartment even though you had signed a lease agreement for the old one. But you will argue that you were not presented with a choice, and that you did what you were told to do, and now you want out of the lease agreement. I am not sure how that one comes out since I'm not sure who the court would believe.
The safe way to play it would be to finish out the lease agreement if possible, or if you have paperwork from the landlord telling you that you had to transfer, then this would be strong evidence in your favor that your transfer was involuntary and therefore a breach of the lease agreement. The time you waited to assert your right to leave would also likely be considered by the Court, so if your landlord only sprung this on you a week or so ago, then you would be in a better position to terminate the lease agreement. But if you waited several months and are now trying to get out of the lease, then that might weigh against you.
