Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Ohio

Confidentality laws

I was a client in a drug and alcohol rehab. program for close to 6 months. After I left the program my councler had a conversation with my current employer and informed them why I left the program and in general discussed my personnal business with them. Once I left the program I feel that it was illegal to disclose any thing about me to any one ,and even while I was there it would have required my permission. Do I have any legal recourse? Also while I was there at times we would not be allowed to attend church services, understand that I entered this program of my own free will and had the option to leave at any time I was under no court order of any kind. This is a Christian based organization and it seemed very unusual to not have the right to attend religious services. Thank you

Re: Confidentality laws

It sounds like this organization violated your right to privacy. This is not a legal ethics or criminal law issue: it is a civil law issue. You should check with an attorney who handles privacy law issues to see if you have any remedy.
