Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Ohio

Am I responsible for this bill?

I was employed at a vet clinic for 4 years and was offered to take on-line courses to get my vet tech degree. I declined the offer but my boss told me that she would pay for it because in the long run it would benifit her. I told her no because i could not pay for it and she insisted. I took 2 classes summer 2006, 3 classes fall 2006 and 1 class in spring 2007. There was no contract signed stating that I would pay anything back. In february I got married and quit my job. My last day was March 24th. Before I left I made sure that my vet bill for my animals was paid in full and had NO balance on my account. Yesterday (6-5-07) I received a bill for $1934.00 for college classes. Since there was no contract signed and she insisted that I take the courses after I told her that I had no money to take them, am I required by law to pay for this?

Re: Am I responsible for this bill?

Based on the facts you explained, you are not legally responsible to repay your former employer for the vet tech training expenses incurred while you were an employee.
