I just wanted to know if there is a statute of limitations on malpractice suits.

The statute of limitations for medical malpractice is one year AFTER DISCOVERY OF THE MALPRACTICE....many times the treatment was some time ago, but the realization that there was malpractice was much later. This does toll the one year limit.
