Legal Question in Personal Injury in Ohio
Auto accident injury/liability questions
My wife was injured in an auto accident over a year ago, and received injuries including a herniated cervical disc, damaged ligaments in the neck and a hip injury. Sh has seen a neurologist, and an MRI, and is currently being treated by a chiropractor twice a week, as advised by the neuro. The person who caused the accident had insurance, but his maximum liabiliy limit iw $100,000. With current medical expenses, and the possibility of future surgery being required, more than half of this amount could be gone. I don't think $50,000 is a fair amount to pay for a permanent condition, the loss of mobility and the abilith to do even simple household tasks. We have a large family, and much of the burden has fallen on me and the children. Is it possible to get more than the policy limit, and if so, how is it done, and where does the money come from

Re: Auto accident injury/liability questions
Availability of other sources of recovery is an important aspect of working up any personal injury case. Other sources of recovery include an employer's policy that may apply, your own underinsured motorist coverage (required to be offered in Ohio), and medical pay provisions. I assume you do not have an attorney on the case as yet, and urge you to do so. Evidence needs to be preserved, and an accurate evaluation made of your claims.
