Legal Question in Personal Injury in Ohio

Completing a case

I have been offered a settlent on an auto accident of just the amount I would get. My son was in the same accident and he received a check without any release form to sign. Aren't I entitled to a breakdown of my settlement and a release? I also refused my part as not satisfactory. Also can part of a settlement be settled?

Thank you

Re: Completing a case

First of all, any part of the claim can be settled without resolving the remainder of the case. Second, The fact that your son did not receive a release may mean that his claim may still be open. Third, The law states that a client must get a settlement statement from the attorney delineating how much you receive and how the proceeds are paid out.
