Legal Question in Personal Injury in Ohio

I fell on a dimly lit staircase in the capitol building and severely sprained my ankle and

could not walk. I was taken by ambulance to the nearest emergency room, treated and

released. I also had to follow up with my family doctor who ordered more x-rays, and

referred me to an orthopedic doctor who also treated me and prescribed a boot cast. Even

though I filed all with my own insurance, I will be out alot of money for deductibles and copays.

Am I able to send my bills to the Capitol Bldg/Government? Please advise, the steps were

very poorly lit and the handrail didn't even extend to the last step.

Any advice helpful,

Maureen

It is very very unlikely you will be able to recover anything from the State. As long as you have health insurance the State does not have to pay your meds. The State has something called "qualified immunity" that significantly limits your ability to recover.
