Legal Question in Personal Injury in Ohio
I was hit by a bus at a bus station. Their insurance company says me and the bus driver were both at fault so they wont pay for damages. I was not moving and my seatbelt was on. The bus driver lied and said my headlights werent on but my lights do not go off when the car is on. Employees said I was in a bus only zone. I just want them to pay for property damage. Can I get a property damage lawyer and we he/she be able to settle this quickly without a long court battle? Or do I have a better chance going to a personal injury lawyer?
1 Answer from Attorneys
In Ohio, if you are not alleging personal injury, then it would be simple negligence case that I think a lot of attorneys might feel comfortable handling. The trouble is that the attorney will naturally want to get paid for his/her time. If the cost to fix your car isn't great, then the attorney would not be likely to take the case on a contingent free basis. If the cost was a lot to fix your car, you might not want to pay the attorney one third of a large amount like that, but might be better off paying him/her a flat fee or hourly.
