Legal Question in Personal Injury in Ohio
Injured at a wedding.
Hello, I was at a wedding last night on the dancefloor and slipped on a spilled drink. I busted my 3 front teeth (all cracked in half) and now have to go to a dentist tomorrow to have it looked at.The manager was being really rude and insisted the drink was spilled recently and his crew had already cleaned up 2 or 3 other spills, however this one had been there for 20-30 minutes as we noticed it when we first went on the dancefloor.
Should I pursue the matter further or just ask that they cover my deductible?
Thanks for your help

Re: Injured at a wedding.
You may be entitled to money above and beyond your actual expenses if you can prove that there was negligence on the part of the owner or the owner's employees. That is not always easy in the types of situations that you described.
In Ohio you would have to prove that the owner new of the spilled drink or should have known if he had exercised reasonable diligence. The fact that the drink had been on the floor for some time and there are witnesses would be helpful. If someone remembers reporting the spill and nothing was done about it, that would strengthen your case.
If you were aware of the spill before you fell and chose to go out on the dance floor, you may have a problem-If the danger is "open and obvious" you may have assumed the risk.
If the owner will pay your expenses, you may want to take the offer. If your injuries are bad-ie if you are going to loose your front teeth-then I suggest you contact an attorney directly. Personal injury lawyers will talk to you for free and if they think that you have a case, they will take it on a percentage basis.
I will be happy to discuss this with you in more detail if you give me a call.
Good luck!
