Legal Question in Personal Injury in Ohio

Injuries during sporting events

My son was involved in a collision with a goalie during a soccer game. It was not a dirty play and no penalty was called. The other player was pretty badly hurt (broken cheek bone, eye socket, etc. The other player's parents are threatening to sue. Can they do this? Is there any chance that they could win? They believe it was intentional, but it was not.

Re: Injuries during sporting events

Anyone can bring a lawsiut but unless it can be proved that there was an intent to injure by a flagrant unsportsmanlike act they could not win.

Participants in sporting events assume the risk of injury by acts that are incident to the sport. You might want to put your homeowners insurance on notice.

For your own peace of mind, there are are several things preventing them from being successfull: proving intention, no penalty on the play...is there video??

Call your home insurance company, this just might be covered; at least you may be able to be represented by them....nonetheless, I don't think this going anywhere.
