Legal Question in Personal Injury in Ohio
Pedestrian hit by uninsured driver in Ohio
I was crossing a street legally at a crosswalk with the walk light on. A car turned and hit me. A cop was standing there and saw the whole thing and told me the man who hit me had been sited (but did not say with what).
At the time, the cop told me the man who hit me had insurance. When I called his insurance company, they told me the policy had lapsed, so he did not have any after all.
I am lucky and nothing is broken, but have several sprains and am in pain, even on drugs. I have no idea what the long term effects will be.
I am wondering if it is even worth my time hiring a lawyer to go after this person for payment of medical expenses and damages (when he hit me, he detroyed my camera and headset as well). At present, I have less than $1,200 in damages and I am wondering if legally pursuing it would even be financially worth it after paying a lawyer.
If not, is this something I could take this guy to small claims court for?
Any ideas are appreciated. Thank you.
