Your question is a little confusing. If you are wondering how long you have to file a civil complaint for damages against someone who assaults you, the answer is generally one year. You should not rely on this statement as advice in any particular case since more information would be needed in order to determine how much time you have in any particular case.

There is no warrant issued for a civil case. If you are talking about how long the police can keep a criminal case open on an assault, that again depends on the facts and more information would be needed in order to properly address the issue.

There is no statute of limitations issue when a warrant is outstanding. Running from a charge doesn't earn the defendant some award if he gets away with it for some time. Feel free to call me directly if you want. 216.952.1990
