Legal Question in Personal Injury in Ohio

Worker injured at my home

I hired a young man to roof house. I never thought to ask about insurance. He jumped from porch roof-was losing balance. He smashed heel and had surgery. What happens now? I am worried sick- I was trying to help him and his buddies out.

The answer depends alot on what his status as a worker is. DOes he work for a crew regularly? Did he assume the risk by jumping? WAs there any type of contract that would create his status as an independent contractor? Were you directly involved in overseeing the work? how was he to be paid? You should consult with an attorney soon.
