Re: adding my wife name to the title/deed to my home

Dear Sir,

Your wife already has a dower right to 1/2 of the real property, by operation of law. However, to add her name to the title (deed) itself, merely have a competent Attorney prepare a Quit Claim Deed from you, as heir, to yourself and your Wife, and have it recorded with the County Recorder in the county where the property is located. The cost is nominal, perhaps $150.00 for deed preparation, plus the recording fee.

As a caution, please do not state the market value of the property, merely recite:" for Ten Dollars, and other valuable consideration..." in order to avoid being charged (taxed) on the basis of the property value.

Good luck.

Sincerely, J. Norman Stark, Cleveland, Ohio.
