Re: collecting real estate tax money

Dear Family Tax Collector, There appears no valid reason to prevent you from collecting and holding, in a Trust Account, the real estate taxes for your Sisters.

As a trustee for such funds, you must be careful to protect and preserve those funds and use them ONLY for the purpose intended, together with any other funds you may collect for the repairs and maintenance of the property, including grass cutting, landscaping, snow removal, roof repair, heating and cooling system maintenance and repair, etc. It is recommended that you have a simple agreement in writing, signed by each of them, confirming their agreement to this arrangement.

You are, essentially, the banker for your Sisters and you are required by law to conduct yourself in a responsible, mature manner, beyond reporach or question, or be liable to civil and even criminal charges for any violations.

Good luck!

Sincerely,

J. Norman Stark
