Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

the disappearing property during my move

I hired a moving company to move my property(my possessions), from one apartment to another in a city to city move. This company did not give to me a receipt showing the total cost of the move.I did however pay the company for this move. After waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes at my new apartment building, the driver of the company finally showed up and moved my things into my new apartment. After going through my phonograph records, I find that some records were taken, A class ring was taken and my TV SET damaged. Can I still file a police report and sue the moving company because of the stolen articles? All this happened in October 1998!

You can always file a police report, but your 2 year statute of limitations on a conversion claim (the civil equivalent of theft) has long sincr run out. There is a much longer statute for criminal actions.
