Do I need to carry homeowners insurance during foreclosure?

The terms of your mortgage require you to maintain insurance. If you do not, the lender will put insurance in force and add the cost to your note balance. As a practical matter, the insurance protects not only the structure but your personal property. For the $30 or $40 per month, it is not worth your risk to cancel.
