lawsuit involving slip on ice

I live in a condominium complex and in Feb 00, a friend of mine who rents a room from me slipped on an icy patch outside my patio on the common grounds of the property. After some research, it was determined that the ice formed due to a defective gutter. He sustained a serious injury. Now he is filing a lawsuit naming the condominium association, the management group and myself as defendants. My question: how can I be named as a defendant? The fall occurred on common property, which is 100% the condo associations responsibility. I am 0% at-fault. Is there a way I can get my name removed from the lawsuit? I consider this a ''false'' lawsuit against me and will do anything in my power to remedy this.

You must file an answer or else a judgment will be rendered against you automatically. It would be my suggestion to get counsel. Your homeowners insurance policy should provide protection.

You need to do a few legal things to get your way out - 1. Answer, then 2. a motion to dismiss - you hve 28 days to answer ...it may take a few months but little work...maybe the attorney for the plaintiff would respond to a letter from you or an attorney, adn voluntarily dismiss you.
