Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

need person to remove item from our property

My husband has a piece of land with a house(run-down, unliveable on it) that his mother has stuff stored in and also all over the yard (boat, car, boxes of stuff). She has the place trashed. We want to sell it. She doesn't want us to. We have asked her a couple of times in the past to remove her things and even did it for her one time. The stuff ended up back on the property. Beings the property is in my husbands name and she has her things on it how do we legally get her things off of our property. Because it is our property can we do what we want with her things(boats, cars, boxes, etc) or do we have to go through to court system or file some type of paperwork somehow beings the stuff their does not really belong to us?

Re: need person to remove item from our property

I would suggest you give her a deadline (15 days)in writing, advising her that anything still there after that date will be considered abandoned. After that, dispose of her things. You may want to put anything of value in her boat, if it is of any value, then drop off the boat at her house.
