Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

property leins and quit claim deeds

I and a business partner jointly own a piece of real estate. The property has several leins against it for my unpaid debts. If I sign a quit claim deed, do the leins stay with the property even though the debt is mine and I no longer will be on the deed?

The liens continue to attach to the property, as you had an interest in it at the time the liens were placed. The grantee under the quit claim deed takes subject to the liens.
