Question about Homeowners Associations

I recently received a notice from my homeowners association that I have to remove a plastic playset from my backyard or risk being fined. I also have a wooden playset in my backyard because I have 5 children. The plastic playset has been in place since I built the home over two years ago and I added the wooden playset in July of 2003. Can the association, after TWO years, require me to remove the set? Shouldn't there be some sort of statute of limitations? I don't want to remove the plastic one because I have a two year old who uses it because it is smaller and there is less chance of her getting hurt.

If they do have the right to ask me to remove it, what are my rights as far as time to remove it and what are their rights as far as fining me?

Thank You for any guidance you may be able to provide!

Re: Question about Homeowners Associations

All of your questions depend on the contents of the agreement you signed when you moved into the house. All of the rights and duties of association members should be ontained therein. Ask the association for a copy of its rules and bylaws.
