Transferred--How do I end my lease?

I have been transferred to a different city by my employer. The report date to my new location is in March. However, the lease on my current apartment is effective until June. My landlord, thus far, has not been cooperative in allowing me to end the lease early. The city I have been transferred to is in the same state, but driving back and forth everyday would entail several hours in transit. Is there a law that allows me to end my lease prematurely because I have been transferred by my employer to a different city?

No, hopefully, the compensation package you received will include damages for breaking your lease.
