Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

Two years ago my mother in law and father in law quick deeded us some property we put a moblile home on in and are living there. Now my father in law is in the nursing home can medicaid make us sell our property to pay for the nursing home. What is the law on this in Ohio

If the transfer to you of the real estate was a gift, then it would be an improper transfer and would disqualify your father-in-law from medicaid for a period of time. The ineligibility period can be determined by dividing the value of the property by $6,000.00.

I would suggest that you speak with an elder law attorney as soon as possible to determine the options that might be available.
