''Following too closely'' on highway

I was ticketed for allegedly following another vehicle too closely on the highway. The ticketing officer did not witness the offense; she indicated that another officer in an aircraft adivsed her to pull me over. I maintain that I was not following any vehicle too closely. I asked for proof of my alleged violation, and she was unable to offer any. Although I'm sure that this type of procedure is legal, I'm wondering if I should go to court to contest this ticket. It was not accompanied by a speeding violation or accident, and honestly, I feel that this entire incident occurred because the local police set up a 'violation trap' on this particular stretch of highway. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

You can always go to trial on the case. I don't see how they could measure anything very closely from the air. Plead not guilty and request a trial. Best regards, Edward DiCato
