Legal Question in Traffic Law in Ohio
Hit-and-Run in a Parking Lot
Earlier today, on my way to class, I hit a car in a parking lot at my campus, BGSU, which is in Ohio. I think I might have dented a door or something. (I was crying and panicky at the time, but I'm sure no one was around or could have gotten my license plate.) I didn't see anyone and panicked and drove away. I'm still scared because I'm afraid of the minute chance someone got my license plate number and I'm scared I'll get arrested for what I did in a moment of panic. I'm scared I'll have a crime on my record.
I don't know if parking lots are no-fault insurance areas in Ohio like they are in Indiana (meaning if you and another person hit each other you pay for the damages for YOUR vehicle.) Does Ohio have that? Will it go on my insurance if they find it out?
It's been about 3 hours since it happened and so far nothing happened, though I paniced when someone knocked on my door and was relieved it was just my neighbor asking to borrow something. My boyfriend thinks nothing will happen and that parking at the school has more to worry about.
What should I do if anyone finds out it was me? My college has a legal services option, and I might go there, but seriously, what would you recommend? What could happen to me?

You can make the claim on your insurance or pay for the damage out of your pocket. You could also do nothing and hope that nobody saw you, but then again, would you want someone to do that to you? It's just bad Karma. Feel free to call me.

If they find you it is a first degree misdemeanor, but the overriding concern will be that you pay for the damages. That's it.
