Legal Question in Traffic Law in Ohio

i was recently pulled over for speeding, at that time i recieved a ovi. i didn't have insurance at that time but later that day i did go get some. when i was pull ed over they did not ask for any proof of insurance, will i have to prove at court that i had insurance? also i have been caught driving without insurance once before 5 years ago what will happen?

Whether you have to prove you had insurance depends on whether the officer checked the boxed on the ticket marked "financial responsibility shown." The box should be about 1/3 of the way down, on the right side of the ticket. If the box is not checked, then you will have to show insurance.

There is a 5-year look-back period for insurance suspensions (called FRA suspensions). This means that they only consider suspensions within the last five years when determining the length of the new suspension. A first offense is a 90-day suspension. A second offense within 5 years is a 1-year suspension. A third offense within 5 years is a 2-year suspension.
