Legal Question in Traffic Law in Ohio

Reckless Operation

I was recently pulled over for reckless operation, specifically for doing doughnuts in a university parking lot. The surface was completely compacted with snow and the only truth to the matter was that the vehicle fishtailed as I was in a hurry. I have witnesses that the lot was unavoidably slick and that the parking lot was empty - this was their argument, that I could have damaged someone's vehicle. What can I do?

Re: Reckless Operation

Fight this...it is up to the Judge or Jury to determine whether you were "reckless".

Re: Reckless Operation

If this was private property, the only charge you should face is possibly trespassing. If the owner wishes to press charges. Also, how are the police/prosecutor going to prove that you were doing "doughnuts" ? Fight the ticket and do not accept any thing lesser except an "unsafe vehicle" charge. Reckless Opp. gives you four points on you license and will really affect your insurance.
