Traffic ticket in Gahanna Ohio

An officer in Gahanna, Ohio pulled me over for ''Improper pass in a prohibited passing zone'' based on a phone call a driver made. Gahanna wants to prosecute it. The officer admits he saw no offense committed and the whole case is based off of allegations from another driver. Can an officer really give you a ticket for this? Can this really stand up in court?

The officer is permitted to issue the citation based on information received from others, but there will be a problem proving the violation if the civilian witness is not available at trial. The only way to find out the answer to your question is to take the case to trial and put the government to the test. The officer may be hoping that you will not want to spend the time and money necessary to take the case to trial just to avoid a minor misdemeanor citation.
