Legal Question in Traffic Law in Ohio
Traffic violation Cop doesn't appear in Court
If you get pulled over for a traffic violation but the officer did not use a radar detector and gives you a ticket for ''reckless operation of a motor vehicle'' and it's a juvenile offense, can the officer not show up in court and just write the judge a letter saying several times that you were speeding at 105 miles an hour even though the ticket does not say anything about a speeding violation? If the cop is the only witness, how can a letter suffice as to proving the person's guilt?

UNDER MOST CIRCUMSTANCES THE SITUATION YOU DESCRIBED SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IF THIS JUST HAPPENED YOU MAY HAVE RECOURSE IF YOU ACT NOW.
