Legal Question in Traffic Law in Ohio
traffic violation
I was given a ticket for improper passing on the highway, however the officer failed to have me sign the ticket, am i required to pay or show up for the court date

Whether you signed it is really immaterial. Whether the officer completed and signed it is what is important under Traffic Rule 3.
So long as the ticket is not marked as a summons with personal appearance required, you are able to pay a fine and go on. If you are wanting to contest the ticket, you must show to court to do that. In many cases, having an attorney for this can be beneficial.
