Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

adding my name to my father's bank account

My father-in-law has had many strokes, leaving him

unable to read and barely able to write. He lives by

himself and my husband was going to get a checking

account in both of their names to pay his bills. Will this

affect our credit? Is there a better way to take care of his

bills?
