Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

I was adopted from Canada, into the US. My biological father and I have had a relationship for over 30yrs. He passed away 2 yrs ago and the Hospital Administator said that although they sent me his creamated remains, they state that I am not entitled to his monies, because I was adopted. Is this so?

If you were adopted by your stepfather, that means your biological father relinqished his parental rights over you. If he had a will or trust, you may be included there.
