Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

dad's will

my dad died in april and I am the eldest of 5 children but I live out of state I have been told there is a will but I have not seen it, today I recieved a letter from one of the sisters attorney stating that my signature is need on two forms (application to relieve estate from administration) (waiver of notice of probate will) both are waivers. Should I go ahead and sign it without even seeing the will? What are these things are they in turn trying to not give me anything? It also states that his assests are less then 35,000. What should I do ? sign it becuz I do want to be included if I am due something.

Re: dad's will

You should sign both forms in order to speed along the process. Before doing so, however, I suggest calling your sister to find out how much the estate is worth, what your share will be, and when she expects to write out the checks to all the siblings.

Call the lawyer and ask for a copy of the will. You are entitled to it.

Ask the lawyer about the assets. If they are small, then it is generally best to avoid the expense of formal asdnministration.
