Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio
Estate
I cared for my elderly parent (now deceased) for many years and short of them having actually lived with me, provided many services for them during the past 12 years.
I have siblings living out of state who stated that they would not help when asked to do so in the past and did, in fact, do nothing to contribute toward's our parent's care.
The will is divided into equal parts of which I am the executor.
I am wondering if I would be able to make--name removed--claim against the estate for the many services that I have rendered during the past 12 years.
I have heard that--name removed--claim such as this was successful in my state in the past.
Thank you.

Re: Estate
It is possible. It's always better to have had a contract worked out before the parent dies, but claims for services have been granted.
Re: Estate
You may be entitled to compensation. A recent, similar case in Ohio is In Re Estate of Guadalupe Macias, 2008 Ohio App. LEXIS 762 (2nd Dist. Ct. App., Darke Co., 2-27-09). If you are the estate executor there are very specific requirements for submitting your claim. Make certain your lawyer is aware of all of them in order for the court to be able to consider your claim.
