Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

estate law

My elderly uncled passed in May. I am his POA and Executor of the estate. His attorney of 30 years is requesting that we get together to compile a list of assets at the time of death. Although I have asked him why this is necessary, he has not responded. It this necessary to settle an estate in the State of Ohio? In his will, he left everything to his wife, and all assets have already been transferred into her name. What more is required by law?

Re: estate law

If an estate is opened, then an inventory is required. If everything is already transfered, then it sounds like it will not be necessary to open an estate.
