Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

Estates / Outstanding Medical Bills

My mother died 5 months ago. She had a very simple will and a very small estate. The proceeds from her estate have already been divided evenally between her three children. There was no property and or probate involved. I do have some money left in her checking account to pay any outstanding medical bills. How long should I keep her checking account open to pay any outstanding medical bills? All of her other outstanding bills have been paid in full. Many thanks for the free advice...

Re: Estates / Outstanding Medical Bills

It sounds as though you did not open a case with the probate court for purposes of probating your mom's will.

Generally claims against an estate can be presented anytime within one year.

feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this in more detail. No charge or obligation for the call.
