Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

Family not following will left by grandfather

My mother's father passed away on June 2. My aunt was named executor. She has refused to share any information with my mother, even though my mother was named in the will. I was able to get a copy of the will from public records, which shows everything was to be 50/50 between my mother and aunt. But my aunts insists that she was giving the house, no proof offered. We live in California, and they live in Ohio, that is one excuse we have heard, but I don't think it's valid. What rights does my mother have and who should we contact.

What probate court in Ohio has jurisdiction of the estate? You must file objections with the judge to get the court to examine things more closely.

What is the location of the property?

Your mother has rights, no matter the state. If there was no trust, and you used "executor" so it sounds like there was only a will, then your Aunt was required to open a Probate.

Please feel free to contact our office if you would like us to review the terms of the will. We may be able to assist from California or, alternatively, point you in a good direction in Ohio.

Feel free to call me at the number provided or through our firm's site at No-Probate.com.
