If an estate is opened at Probate Court and you are appointed as Executor or Administrator, a certified letter of authority issued by the Probate Court will give you the power to ask for information about the bank accounts. You can always open an estate even without the death certificate. Otherwise, you will need to wait until you receive the death certificates.
