legal rights before setting up probate of executor

just saw will of deceased....am executor....cant get into attorney for 10 days..do i still have the legal right to close accounts ?

The proper paperwork needs to be filed with your local probate office before anyone has the power to act as Executor.

To have any authority as Executor, the probate court must issue a letter of authority after the filing of the initial paperwork. You can only close an account if it were a survivorship account and you were the joint tenant on the account. As Executor, you may choose any attorney you desire to work with so if timing is an issue, call another attorney.
